Thome's back

I ran into Jim Thome as he was coming into the clubhouse after the White Sox victory over Milwaukee on Wednesday, and he told me that his back started to tighten up prior to the contest. When I asked him if he thought it was going to be just a couple of day thing, he told me it was just like the other occasions during his White Sox tenure when this back stiffness or tightness kept him out of the lineup.

Those comments from Thome probably mean that he's back in action some time this weekend.

The White Sox certainly won't rush him back on the field, not with three weeks left on the Cactus League schedule, along with the possibility for a 'B' Game or two. It doesn't seem like any reason to panic, even if Thome is a major contributor in the middle of the White Sox lineup. Thome will get his necessary treatment and soon be back in the lineup.
